Plan the call before the ramp opens
Reliable ship handling begins with a shared operating plan. We align cargo volumes, unit types, sequence requirements, terminal space, labor interfaces, documentation and onward movements before the vessel arrives.
For recurring services, procedures can be standardized around the line’s schedule and reporting requirements. For ad hoc or project calls, the plan is built around the specific cargo and vessel profile.
Ship-handling scope
- Pre-arrival coordination – cargo forecasts, call requirements, operating windows and interface planning.
- RoRo loading and discharge – controlled movement of passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, machinery and other rolling cargo.
- Marshalling and sequencing – organized staging to support vessel plans, release priorities and onward flows.
- Terminal-vessel handover – clear responsibility at each transfer point, supported by agreed checks and documentation.
- Exception management – rapid escalation when cargo condition, documentation, sequence or timing differs from plan.
- Post-call reporting – agreed operational data, status updates and review points for future improvement.
Designed for deepsea and shortsea flows
Sallaum Terminal supports the interface between international deepsea services and regional shortsea or inland distribution. Cargo can move into storage, vehicle processing or onward transport according to the agreed release plan, reducing unnecessary handovers between separate providers.
Cargo care on the quay
Vehicle condition can be affected in seconds if movements are rushed or responsibilities are unclear. Our approach emphasizes controlled speed, defined routes, trained personnel, careful marshalling and immediate escalation of exceptions. Customer-specific handling instructions are incorporated into the operating plan.
