Sustainability
Practical progress toward lower-impact logistics.
Sustainability becomes meaningful when infrastructure, operating choices and customer collaboration reduce impact in measurable ways.
Efficiency is an environmental lever
Well-planned cargo flows can reduce unnecessary repositioning, avoid uncoordinated truck peaks and shorten the time vehicles spend moving without purpose. We use program planning, storage allocation and release sequencing to support both operational and environmental efficiency.
Using terminal space more effectively
Covered and multi-level storage can increase protection and make more productive use of the terminal footprint. This supports capacity growth while reducing the pressure to solve every volume increase through additional open land.
Areas of practical action
Modal choice
Consider rail and shortsea alongside road where route, volume, timing and infrastructure make them viable.
Energy and infrastructure
Continue evaluating electrification, renewable energy, shore-power readiness and energy-efficient facility upgrades.
Operational efficiency
Reduce avoidable movements, idling, waiting and rework through better planning and data exchange.
Network alignment
Connect terminal initiatives with the wider Sallaum fleet and supply-chain sustainability roadmap.
Part of a wider transition
The wider Sallaum organization is investing in lower-emission vessel technology and more efficient automotive supply chains. The terminal’s role is to support that transition on land through capable infrastructure, connected modes and practical operational improvement.
Measure what matters
Sustainability claims should be supported by an agreed baseline, defined boundary and evidence. As terminal initiatives mature, publish measurable indicators such as electricity source, energy consumption, modal split, equipment electrification, shore-power use or emissions avoided – with the methodology stated clearly.
Publication rule
Do not present shore power, solar generation, renewable electricity sourcing or a net-zero date as operational facts until implementation status, boundaries and evidence have been formally approved.
Build sustainability into the operating plan
Discuss modal options, reporting needs and practical measures that can support your environmental objectives.
